James Halliday awarded Yarran his 'Dark Horse Winery 2021' and their Hilltops Shiraz is a perfect example of the quality of wine deserving of that huge accolade, and his 91pts award.
As a "whole berry" Shiraz, a cool climate NSW vineyard with a strong heritage for quality was selected for this wine. The fruit is then picked using a selective harvester ensuring the whole berries are then delivered to the winery. Basically, this means no de-stemming or crushing takes place prior to the start of the winemaking process. This is then matured for 11 months in 20% new American and 80% used American and French oak.
The result, a multi-award winning spicy Shiraz with violet and plush fruit style with both intensity and length that leaves the palate with that much sought after Shiraz style silky peppery finish. We also love this one chilled give it a go.
At $150 per case of 12 bottles (and did we say this is a huge 60% off RRP) would that be 2 cases or 3?
